It seems to me that "Megan's Law"-esque legislation is out of hand.
For those who don't know, I'm reffering to legislation that says something to the effect of, "If you've commited a sex-crime, you must register yourself with the local law enforcement.
Those local law enforcement take it upon them selves to warn a 3 block area that "a former sex offender is living in your neigborhood"
"Oh, gee, Robert... Why is that a problem?" Well, I'm not exactly an advocate for the rights of criminals (infact, I'd perfer it if we institued a few other forms of punishment... Say, torture and mutilation or deportation from America)
Can somebody tell me the point of incarseration? No? Well I'll educate you, scince you're here. When someone commits a crime, they tread on the rights of others (their victims) and have abused thier own freedoms. The court system says to those criminals,"You obviously can't handle having rights and being in society, so we'll take you out of society, and strip you of your rights. That out to make you thankful for your rights and teach you not to abuse them...)
Anyhow, it is assumed that when thier sentance is up, or they're paroled, it is assumed that they've learned thier lesson.
So why do we treat sex-offenders as if they were going to commit another crime? Because statistics show that he who commits a sex-crime will probably commit another sex-crime when he gets out of jail. This leads me (and hopefully the more observant of my readers) to a rather obvious question...
If they are likley to commit another crime, then WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY OUT OF JAIL? Shit, if you think someone is going to commit a crime, why do we release him back into our society? Do we REALLY need footage for "Cops" or is it that Policemen though theat they needed more shit to deal with other than the first time murderers and rapists? What is the fucking mindset of our leaders?
If you DO think that these people have reformed, then leave them the fuck alone, they've paid thier debt, and building a new life isn't helped by a fucking sign saying "a childer-dicking daughter fucker lives here" on thier front door.
And what does this do to the fucking parents? They KNOW a sex offender lives near them, so are thier kids going to be allowed to go out and play like normal kids? Fuck no, the parents are probably going to hire an armed guard to walk thier kids to the toilet at the local McDonalds...
And they'll start putting thier tiny little minds into finding the sex-offender in thier neigborhood. They'll KNOW who the kid-dicker is by the end of the week, and given the intelligence of the average parent, about 2% of these unwavering beliefs concerning who the kid dicker is will be reasonable, much less accurate...
Here's an idea that just may shock the hell out of the justice department: Keep those who are a danger to society, OUT OF SOCIETY!!! If it's too fucking expensive to keep them locked up, then blow thier sick brains out, and use thier organs for the donor lists...
God, is it REALLY that difficult to comprehend?
